This little plant was in a pot with two others, part of an arrangement. It was, as you can see, stunted, as it was overshadowed by the others.
In early October I started cleaning out the various flower pots, cutting down some of the perennials, and doing general prep for the winter. I leave potted plants be until they are killed by frost. Midway through October, we'd had a couple of deep freezes (25 deg. F), a few snows, and many frosty mornings.
By last week, the only spot of color in the front yard was this lone plant in the only remaining pot. I looked at it . . . sometimes we must recognize the struggle, and reward it.
