  • This guy is flapping its wings as it feeds, hence the blur.
  • I think he was too heavy to hang on on the side of the flower . . . or maybe he just did not want to present me with a clear shot at its wings.
  • There are a lot of these around, but they generally have their wings in the closed position.
  • . . . I hear they are tasty, too.
  • This one landed on my wife's shoulder, and I took a number of shots before I shooed her away.

  • Because the room has a glass ceiling, any shot aimed up was difficult to expose correctly.
  • But most were in places where I could control what showed up in the background.
  • This is by far the most colorful butterfly there (that I saw), and you'll be seeing more of him (or her . . . I did not check).
  • These guys, I think it might be a Monarch, were not very helpful in standing still.
  • Got this one as it balanced on the flower to feed.
  • This guy let me get closer . . .
  • . . . and closer . . .
  • . . . and closer. Interesting eyes. In a way it looks like a Sith Lord.
  • Generally with butterflies you have to be patient.
  • But there are so many here, that you just walk around and spot 2-3 photo opportunities at every turn.
  • I only saw this guy once.
