Dec '09 - Closing out the year

Some shots closing out 2009. By all accounts a most difficult year. These photos are a mish-mash of subjects that did not fit in any of the other galleries.

This was one such case. There were actually two coyotes, but only one picture survived my increasingly critical eye. The two were hunting the Greenland Open Space field as I happened to pass by.

  • On one of the back roads I travel there is a flooded area right next to the road. This shot is of that frozen area with a cloud-shrouded Pikes Peak in the background.
  • A closeup of the same area showing grass blades frozen in time and space.
  • I like Yucca plants . . . this is not quite as visible as it was to my eyes, nut I still like the composition.
  • This is one of my favorite views near my house. This is from the I-25 service road just North of Palmer Divide Rd. (County Line Rd.). I like the little grove of trees straining to look at Pikes Peak in the background.
  • I like it so much that I'm adding a similar shot.
  • These next three shots are views of the Spruce Mountain mesa cliffs as viewed from the bottom.
  • I like these formations, and I like even more climbing on them.
  • My attempt at creating a vintage photo . . . Lucky I don't depend on my photo or photo editing skills for making a living.
  • I think this is a Raven, but I am too lazy to go check. I happen to have my camera up and ready as it flew by, and I like the shots enough to include them here.
  • Maligned they may be, but they are very smart . . . this one gave some advice on the market. She said: "Open markets are the best; once you get into a closed market you have to time your exit to someone operating the sliding doors." Good advice.
  • There is something about trees on hilltops that attract my photographer's eye. Throw in some rocks, a setting sun, and some snow and voila'!!
  • Same shot with a slightly different perspective. Voila' Redux.
  • Another view of the cliffs of the mesa-like Spruce Mountain
