Green Anole Gecko

  • This little guy was in one of the shrubs next to the deck.
  • I'd not have noticed it save it moved. This particular display caught me by surprise, and in my haste to snap a picture I blurred it.
  • Unfortunately, for the remainder of my stay there it did not repeat the display.
  • It was not too happy to have me so close (the lens of the camera was less than 6 inches away), but it also did not seem overly agitated by my presence.
  • First of two short movies I shot.
  • Like many other animals and birds I encounter, it seemed happy to pose for me.
  • I in turn was happy to snap away picture after picture.
  • This was the next day, early morning. That's the sun rising giving the nice warm glow.
  • Caught in mid-stride
  • He went up the small trunk . . .
  • . . . and then came back down to see what I was up to.
  • I kept testing how close I could get. I wanted to get close-up pictures so I could really examine the texture and details of this little guy.
  • A good look at the eye and surrounding area.
  • This has a clearer look at the feet and claws.
  • By far I found the eye most fascinating.
  • There's an intensity there. I can imagine if this guy was a tad bigger it would be sizing me up for a meal.
  • Another good shot for detail on the eye.
  • This and the next shot were in full shade, hence the strange coloring.
  • Still, I like these shots.
  • I find movies are a decent addition, but not replacement, to the pictures I take.
